Last year Congress was unable to pass a final budget for the FY 2007 Labor, Health, and Human Services - Education appropriations. A continuing resolution was passed to keep programs running at the FY 2006 levels until February 15, 2007.
Congressional leaders now intend to complete the FY 2007 Labor-HHS-Education appropriations bill by passing a year-long continuing resolution. Locking in FY 2007 funding at the FY 2006 levels would adversely affect the important research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS).
Please contact your members of Congress now and ask them to support adequate funding for the NIH in the final budget process for FY 2007.
