Neuroimaging in the Emergency Patient Presenting with Seizure, a reassessment of the American Academy of Neurology's 1996 guideline, recommends brain CT scans to screen emergency department patients with seizure. The reassessment is aimed at analyzing the usefulness of neuroimaging as a screening procedure for altering management of the emergency patient presenting with a seizure. It also seeks to determine which clinical and historical characteristics indicate the need for a neuroimaging study for such patients. The guideline appears in the October 30, 2007, issue of Neurology®, the AAN's premier scientific journal.
