I am honored to follow Dr. William Preston as the new Chair for the AAN Neuroimaging Section. Dr. Preston was extremely successful in continuing to develop the section during his tenure, and has tirelessly advocated for neuroimaging and the UCNS Neuroimaging Certification Examination. His leadership successes also included the creation of a long-awaited Neuroimaging Section Strategic Plan, and frequently reaching out to other neurological organizations to find ways to collaborate to further the common interests that benefit all neurologists and attract young physicians to neurological training programs.

The section also realized additional educational programming with the addition of the 2011 Neuroimaging Conference immediately following the 2011 Annual Meeting in Hawaii. Progress also continues to be made with new coding rules and legislative advocacy for neuroimaging.

The section is on a very solid ground after Dr. Preston's leadership, but challenges remain. We need to advocate to support neuroimaging efforts, and work together with our advocates from other AAN sections and other neurological organizations. I look forward to serving as Chair of the AAN Neuroimaging section and continuing to promote the goals of neuroimaging within neurology.
