I am happy to announce that the following two events proposed by the Sports Neurology Section for the AAN's 2011 Annual Meeting in Hawaii have been approved:
Run/Walk for Brain Research Section Challenge: A friendly competition between sections will allow section members to sign up for the event and assign themselves to a section. Challenges include recognition for the section with the most member participating, and recognition for the section with the fastest cumulative time. Names of participants and winners will be displayed on the AAN's main section web page and on individual section web pages. The event will take place in conjunction with the Tuesday, April 12, 2011 Run/Walk for Brain Research from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. in Hawaii.
USTA Events Promote Health Benefits of Tennis: The AAN Sports Neurology Section, in conjunction with the United States Tennis Association (USTA), will provide FREE morning cardio tennis events daily from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. beginning Monday, April 11, and running through Friday, April 16, during the AAN's 2011 Annual Meeting in Honolulu, Hawaii.
The event will help promote the health benefits of tennis, while bringing overall awareness to the sport.
Instructors will be available at the two clay courts at the Pacific Beach Hotel at 2490 Kalakaua Avenue, a beautiful 20-minute walk from the Hawaii Convention Center.
By exposing AAN members and their families to a fun morning of tennis—and providing educational pamphlets regarding the health benefits of this and other similar sports—the Sports Neurology Section will increase awareness within the neurologic community of how exercise can benefit neurologic health and well-being. All skill levels are welcome!
