Internet-Based PECOS Unavailable March 29 through April 5

Internet-based Provider Enrollment, Chain and Ownership System (PECOS)—which allows physicians, non-physician practitioners, providers, and other suppliers to enroll or make changes to their current Medicare enrollment information over the Internet—will not be available from Monday, March 29, through Monday, April 5, 2010, due to scheduled maintenance. 

If you were planning to enroll or make a change to your current Medicare enrollment record during this time, here are the following options:

• Use Internet-based PECOS before March 29, or after April 5, 2010.
• Use the "Getting Started" guide available in the Downloads section on the CMS website for more information on Internet-based PECOS.
• Complete and submit the paper Medicare provider enrollment application(s) (CMS-855) with any required supporting documentation and mail to the appropriate Medicare carrier, fiscal intermediary, or A/B MAC. The CMS-855 form is available for download on the CMS forms page.
