A grassroots effort has been launched to ensure that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) can begin implementation of new Practice Expense payments without Congressional intervention. An "Action Alert" was emailed to all US Academy members on December 7, 2009, asking them to contact their member of the Congress in support of the new Medicare Practice Expense payments.

In addition, Washington, DC, publications are now running this ad, intended to reach members of Congress and their staff.

The AAN supports the revision of the Practice Expense data that it set to take effect on January 1, 2010. Neurologists benefit from the new data and will see increased payment for several services. This corrects a distortion that had improperly paid some specialties more at the expense of others. The revision will improve payment accuracy and correct considerable inequities across physician groups.

If you have done so yet, please take two minutes and log in to Vocus to tell your representative that you support the revision of the Practice Expense data.
