In the first half of 2009, media coverage of the American Academy of Neurology generated over 4 billion media impressions, through more than 10,000 newspaper, magazine, television, radio, and online news clips mentioning the Academy, the journal Neurology®, and the AAN Foundation.

The Annual Meeting was responsible for a significant amount of the media coverage, which highlighted scientific abstracts presented at the meeting, the launch of the AAN's Women with Epilepsy guidelines, and the AAN Foundation's participation in the fundraising "wedding registry" of ABC's hit drama Grey's Anatomy.

Some of the top-tier media that featured the AAN Annual Meeting included The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, The Wall Street Journal, National Public Radio, USA Today, TIME, US News & World Report, Science Daily, Forbes, Bloomberg, E! Online, People, The Seattle Times, Seattle Post-Intelligencer, as well as hundreds of local newspapers and health care trade publications.

The Academy hosted five press conferences in Seattle, highlighting 18 scientific presentations. The conferences were webcast on AAN.com shortly after each study was presented.
