A new version of the popular NeuroSAE™ (Neurology Self-Assessment Examination) is now available. This examination is designed to help you meet the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology's (ABPN) self-assessment requirement for Maintenance of Certification. Both versions of the NeuroSAE are written by certified neurologists.

The AAN now offers you the choice of two American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN)-approved examinations designed specifically to help you meet the self-assessment component (part 2) of your MOC requirements. Like NeuroSAE I, the content outline for the new NeuroSAE II is similar to the exam used for the APBN's cognitive examination for recertification in clinical neurology.

NeuroSAE I will remain online for purchase; however separate payments are required for each version.

Both versions feature 100 multiple-choice questions that help you determine your strengths and areas for improvement. Since the examination is presented entirely online, you may take it from your home or office at your convenience. This format allows you to:

  • Take the examination at your own pace; complete as many items as you like and return to the examination at a later time.
  • Receive immediate or delayed feedback; time your performance and receive feedback at the end of the examination or receive feedback immediately after each item.
  • Compare your performance to that of other neurologists.
  • Print and save the entire examination, including the question and alternatives, correct answers, your responses, and text justifying the correct answer.
  • Access the examination questions, answers, and your responses for up to eight months after the date of purchase.

Both versions of the NeuroSAE are available to members for $99.00 each. Nonmembers can take the exams for $149.00 each.
