The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) have released preliminary data related to the reporting of the 2007 Physician Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI) measures. While individual reports will not be available until mid-July, physicians in multi-physician practices should register online now to allow time for processing.

The AAN has encouraged members to participate in the PQRI program which began July 1, 2007. The reporting data is not specialty specific, so it is unknown how many neurologists actually participated in the program. The data do reveal that, of the 631,110 providers eligible to submit claims, 99,319 (15.74%) attempted to report, with the average number of attempted measures greater than three.

The AAN has identified 12 measures that would apply to neurologists. Read the 2007 Neurology PQRI Measures and Specifications and PQRI: FAQ for details and more information.
