Free EHR User Group Meetings to be Held at the 2012 Fall Conference

To provide education and networking opportunities for neurologists who use the same electronic health records (EHR) software, the AAN is holding two EHR User Group meetings during the Fall Conference at the Encore at Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas. Hosted by the AAN's Practice Management and Technology (PM&T) Subcommittee, the meetings will be led by AAN experts who have experience with these EHR systems. For the 2012 Fall Conference the focus will be on two EHR systems that are widely used by our membership, with a plan on expanding vendor options for EHR User Groups at the 2013 Annual Meeting in San Diego.

    • Facilitated by David Evans, MBA; Chair of the AAN's Business and Research Administrators in Neurology Society (BRAINS), PM&T Subcommittee Member, Chief Operating Officer at Texas Neurology
  • Epic EHR User Group Meeting
    • Chopin 2 Room – Encore at Wynn Hotel
    • Facilitated by Allison L. Weathers, MD; PM&T Subcommittee Member, Medical Director of Clinical Information Services at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago

Objectives for the User Group Meetings:

  • Network with fellow neurologists and practice managers using the specific EHR
  • Learn how other users have optimized their EHR system to provide the best care for neurology patients
  • Discover practices and tips when using the EHR to take back to your practice or institution
  • Discuss with fellow users of Epic of eClinicalWorks the challenges with their EHR system
  • Develop structured feedback from neurologists to give to Epic or eClinicalWorks

The AAN highly encourages anyone who uses Epic or eClinicalWorks (or is in the implementation process) to attend. The user group meetings are free with registration for the Fall Conference.
