Michael J. Amery, Esq., the AAN's legislative counsel in Washington, DC, has been recognized as one of eight "effective association lobbyists" by Association TRENDS magazine in its October 17 issue. Amery and the others were chosen for their "prowess, success, and demonstrating the best attributes of an association advocate."
Association TRENDS, located in Bethesda, MD, is often called "the bible of the association community" and is read by a wide range of association executives.
"Much of the credit for this belongs to Academy leadership who supported the opening of the DC office and the creation of BrainPAC, as well as to thousands of AAN members who have joined our advocacy efforts and given strength to my voice when I visit the Hill," said Amery.
Amery has been with the AAN since 2000, and has anchored the Academy's advocacy efforts in its Washington office since 2005.
He also writes the Capitol Hill Report, the twice monthly column on AAN.com that keeps members informed about progress toward the AAN's advocacy goals and how the system works—or doesn't work.
